Clear aligners are the invisible alternative to fixed wire braces
What are clear aligners?
Aligner treatments consist of a series of almost invisible caps to straighten your teeth. Using gentle and gradual forces, transparent splints reposition the teeth into their final position over the course of a treatment.
Based on an impression of your teeth, and a phased treatment plan, aligner manufacturers are able to provide a series of transparent splints. Each splint is meant to slightly move your teeth closer to a perfect alignment. On average, you would switch over to a subsequent aligner every 2 weeks.
Aligners can be taken out for eating or drinking. However, they should be kept in as much as possible (at least 22 hours per day).
Benefits of clear aligners
Like any other smile-enhancing treatment, the result of clear aligners can have a major impact on your overall appearance, and improve your self esteem.
- Except for when extractions would be needed, orthodontic treatments are non-invasive and preserve your natural tooth structure.
- Clear aligners in specific are one of the most discrete and comfortable solutions currently in the market.
- Aligners can be removed for eating and drinking. They can be taken out for special occasions but this should be kept to a minimum.
